NYPAC is pleased to present Les Bijoux Indiscrets, or, Paper Tigers, the second performance in Sophie Seita’s series My Little Enlightenment Plays.
A whimsical and magical world of female friendship and immodesty, where jewels sing and books talk and geometry descends in octagons and hexagrams, in crushing cascades and nervous nebulas, Les Bijoux Indiscrets, or, Paper Tigers presents star-gazing conversations with Margaret Cavendish, Denis Diderot, and Bernard Le Bovier de Fontenelle to experiment with and think through anachronistic astronomy, feminist utopias, the silliness of rationality, the end of Marxist poetry, and the form of erotic Platonic dialogues.
With: Corina Copp, Constance DeJong, Lucy Ives, Wendy Lotterman, Ada Smailbegovic, Sophie Seita, Jocelyn Spaar, Bridget Talone, and props by Emmy Catedral.
